Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1963. Educated in New Zealand finishing at Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Canterbury. Read Classical Studies and History for his B.A., Classical Studies for his B.A.(Hons), and Buddhist Studies, including Sanskrit for his M.A.(Hons), 1^st class. His photographic work is mostly architectural.

Concentrates on the interior and exterior of early New Zealand buildings and structures. Is interested in rural and industrial change, growth and decay. A title – Camera Antipodea - Catalogue No. 1 – is in print and another is being prepared.

Lives in and works from a Georgian box cottage in Oxford, North Canterbury. Is a member of PhotoForum and a co-founder of an independent charity rehoming retired racing greyhounds. Is also engaged as Managing Editor for Brill's forthcoming Index Buddhicus.
